A number of workers in country South Australia have been back-paid more than $28,000 following intervention by the Fair Work Ombudsman.
The largest recovery was $16,800 for 18 hospitality staff at a business on the Yorke Peninsula.
The employees - cleaners, cooks and service staff - had each been underpaid between $10 and $3100.
In a separate case, a Quorn hospitality worker was back-paid $5900 after lodging a complaint with the Fair work Ombudsman.
And an agricultural worker in the Bundaleer area was reimbursed $5500 after an inspector found the employee was underpaid the minimum hourly rate, did not receive annual leave entitlements and had unauthorised deductions from his wages.
Fair Work Ombudsman Nicholas Wilson says each of the businesses has now put processes in place to ensure the mistakes are not repeated.
?It?s a fact that some businesses inadvertently breach workplace laws. When we find mistakes, we?re here to help and give practical advice to employers on how to voluntarily fix them,? Mr Wilson said.
