SAINT LEO ? Saint Leo University is pleased to present a reading by two celebrated Florida writers, Philip Deaver and Susan Lilley. The reading will take place on Wednesday, March 21, at 7:00 p.m., in the Daniel A. Cannon Memorial Library on the campus at 33701 State Road 52, Saint Leo.
Philip Deaver is Professor of English and Writer in Residence at Rollins College in Winter Park. An award-winning poet and short story writer, he is the winner of a Flannery O?Connor Award for Short Fiction. He is the author of the short story collection, Silent Retreats, and a poetry collection, How Men Pray. His recent work has appeared in The Southern Review and Kenyon Review, among others, and is forthcoming in Florida Review. He has edited a collection of baseball essays entitled Scoring from Second: Writers on Baseball.
Susan Lilley is a poet and the 2009 winner of the Rita Dove Poetry Award. She is a Pushcart Prize finalist. In 2006, her chapbook, Night Windows, won the YellowJacket Press Chapbook Contest for Florida Poets. Her work has appeared recently in Poet Lore, The Southern Review, Drunken Boat, Sweet, Passager, New Madrid, The Florida Review, and other journals. She teaches at Trinity Preparatory School in Orlando and is an adjunct professor at Rollins College.
The reading is sponsored by the Department of English, Fine Arts, and Humanities and is free and open to the public.
