Microsoft adds more Facebook results to Bing sidebar

Earlier this week, Facebook announced its plans for its own internal search engine, called Graph Search, that will also include web-based search results from Microsoft's Bing engine. Now, Microsoft has announced that it will be adding even more Facebook features to its Bing sidebar.

The official Bing blog states:

Starting today, five times more of your friends? content on Facebook is searchable in the sidebar ? including status updates, shared links, comments and photos from your friends. With the addition of status updates, shared links and comments to the sidebar, it?s now easier to see who knows and what they've shared related to your search. So when your friends aren?t around, Bing is the perfect stand-in.

The blog adds that Microsoft will continue to respect the privacy of Facebook users when it comes to displaying their content on Bing, stating, "We honor all of your existing Facebook privacy settings, nothing is shared automatically, you only see what your friends give you permission to see (though their Facebook settings) so you only share what you want to share."

Facebook's?CEO Mark Zuckerberg said earlier this week that a deal with rival search engine Google failed to go through because Google was unwilling to remove listings from its search engine if Facebook users decided to switch content they had on their pages from public to private.
